Everybody loves a nice stud. Some like it large and some like it small and subtle. The small one is a cute elephant – a symbol of strength and one of the Big 5. The larger earring is of an oxpecker – a special symbol of mutualism in South Africa. The oxpecker and certain mammals have a mutually beneficial relationship. The oxpecker eats the ticks and flies on the animals and in this process gets a meal and the animal gets cleaned of parasites. The large stud represents our continent, Africa, serving as a stylish reminder of our rich diversity.
